6 Great dog boarding on the Gold Coast every busy pet owner would love

Communication: We selected dog boarding facilities that offer consistent communication and updates to fur parents regarding their dog’s well-being during their stay.

Accommodations: We picked facilities that can make our pets feel at home even when they’re far away. These include custom sleeping arrangements, medications, quiet spaces, and enough attention from caretakers.

Range of Services: We carefully chose the dog boarding facilities that offer additional caretaking services, in addition to looking after our pets while we’re away.

Affordability: We want quality service at reasonable prices. As such, we only included dog boarding facilities that offer charging rates equal to their service quality.

Reputation: We based our list on firsthand interviews with some of the dog boarding facilities’ customers to get an outside perspective. This was to determine whether we could truly recommend them to others.

Taking care of a dog can be a struggle, especially if you’re far away from home or busy on the job. Some people try hiring pet sitters or using boarding kennels as a remedy, but leaving your pet with a stranger might not sit well with everyone.

The traumatic stories of dogs left unattended and abused by bigger animals are enough to scare off first-timers.

Many pet owners on the Gold Coast face similar problems despite the numerous dog boarding facilities in the area.

As a solution, we went all over the Gold Coast to look for the best dog boarding facilities you can trust with your fur babies. Here’s what we found.

How much does dog boarding cost on the Gold Coast?

Dog boarding on the Gold Coast typically ranges from $15 to $60 per stay. However, the total cost can change depending on the length of stay, the dog’s age, required medications, and additional grooming services.

Sitting near the John Rogers Reserve, Abbeyards offers pets a peaceful nature experience with its outdoor playpens and forest walks. There are also various amenities and accommodations for its beloved guests of any size.

Among our favorites were the flea-removing hydrobath process, the climate-controlled kennels, and the ability to provide specific dietary supplements for our pets.

To top it all off, the facility also accepts last-minute reservations. This means there’s no need to race with other pet owners to secure a free spot in the facility.

The staff even provides regular photo updates of the pets to let their fur parents know that their dogs are safe, happy, and clean.

It was a surprise to learn the facility houses both dogs and cats. It’s even more amazing that they can keep them apart and reduce the risks of any fights breaking out.

Although it might sometimes get noisy during its busier days, the caretakers are experienced enough to quickly resolve any discomfort the pets may encounter during their stay.

Positive dog boarding experience

“Abbeyards made us feel very comfortable and were happy for us to ring and check in when we needed. When we picked our dogs up they both came out looking well cared for, happy, and [smelled] fresh and clean.”

 – Melody Adams, Google Review

Wonderful facility

“Abbeyards allowed us to supply them with fresh raw products to feed to our boy throughout his stay, and it was no hassle for them to accommodate his specific dietary requirements. The second highlight was that our boy was returned to us excited, happy, and sparkling clean after receiving a bath prior to our return.”

Despite being located in a busier section of Molendinar, we were amazed at how well-ventilated and comfortable the pDOG Lifestyle Centre is when it comes to accommodating several dog boarders.

Our team particularly loved the custom-made bunker beds for dogs with adorable designs. These beds provide comfort for weary pets after a long day of playing and exploring.

We also can’t stop gushing about the themed playpens—parasols and all—to protect the pets from the sun’s heat.

There’s nothing to complain about with the amenities either. For one, the grooming services are top-notch and are sure to leave dogs both tidy and smelling good.

We’ve asked some of their previous customers and, so far, the sentiment is consistent. Their grooming services are truly something worth visiting again.

Best of all, the pDOG staff provides videos and pictures regularly to let you know your dog’s doing well. They even report back on any requests you’ve made during the dog’s stay.

If there’s one thing we can nitpick about pDOG is that it’s hard to find. The facility itself is small, which feels even smaller compared to the much bigger buildings in the area.

Pros

  • Themed playpens and resting area
  • Well-ventilated and comfortable facilities
  • Provides shelter for multiple pets
  • Consistent quality in dog grooming
  • Sends video and photo updates

Cons

  • Hard to locate

Above and beyond

“The staff there are beyond everything you need for the care of your animals. They have such a good bond with my dogs and show so much care and passion [for] the care of the animals.

They send videos of the animals each day and [put] so much effort into caring for them. Prices are really reasonable for the care that goes into each animal.”

Want a more accessible dog boarding service on the Gold Coast? Our top pick is Love Dogz.

Unlike previous dog boarding facilities on this list, Love Dogz operates across the city. No wonder it’s still in demand even after nearly a decade of business!

We also can’t help but find the dog boarding “bus” adorable. Yes, it’s just a minivan but the staff members have made efforts to make the ride enjoyable for dogs and owners alike.

Of course, the amenities and services are also fantastic. We particularly loved the early morning/late afternoon beach walks, which allow pets to enjoy some free time on the city’s famous coastlines.

The dog “daycare” center and bite-friendly products, such as treats and chew toys, all have proven good track records. It’s clear why the prices are more expensive compared to nearby dog shops.

If money’s not a problem, you can always avail of Love Dogz’s service for chaperoning the dogs to exhibit their best behaviors during special events like weddings and birthday parties.

The staff even provides custom-made messages featuring your dogs, which you can open during your special moment.

Here’s a tip: let the staff know if your dog has problems getting close to other pets. Love Dogz usually attends to multiple pets at once and might have difficulty stopping fights immediately.

Despite the few flaws, Love Dogz is a great place to leave your pets during holidays and some out-of-town ventures.

Pros

  • Operates across all of the Gold Coast
  • Offers beach walks
  • Offers dog “bus” rides and “daycare” centers
  • Chaperoning services during special events

Cons

  • Few staff to attend to multiple dogs at once
  • Expensive dog products

Overwhelming love for the dogs

The Dog Emporium in Broadbeach boasts a facility that offers various fun activities for dogs to explore and play with other dogs. From the mini pool to the treadmill, it has all the equipment to tire out any dog from enjoyment.

We particularly liked the facility’s mood. It’s filled with decorations and equipment but still spacious enough for energetic dogs to run freely.

Plus, fur parents can rest assured that their dogs won’t be bullied. The Dog Emporium has strict policies against aggressive dogs to prevent any fights.

The staff members’ attentiveness amazed us as well. They provide consistent health updates and follow any medication requests to a tee.

What we didn’t like, however, was the struggle to book a dog boarding reservation. It’s most likely due to The Dog Emporium’s popularity.

That said, it can still be quite frustrating to learn that the facility often only has a few limited slots available for immediate boarding.

Thankfully, the facility staff can be understanding and would still accommodate last-minute reservations depending on the situation.

Pros

  • Spacious area for playing
  • Fully equipped with amenities
  • Strict policy against aggressive dogs
  • Provides regular health updates

Cons

  • Limited slots

Professional levels of services

“I get feedback from the staff if they notice anything and I can tell they genuinely care for the dogs. I also love that I can do a half day of care particularly if I’m working from home and know he’d still like some playtime.”

– Amanda Byrne, Google Review

Happy and receptive staff

“Absolutely love this place! [It’s] so easy to book my Shepherd in. The staff are always so friendly, understanding and accommodating. My dog comes happy and exhausted, sleeping with a smile on her face.”

Our experience with Pawesome Academy was wonderful. From the very first interaction, the team was welcoming, professional, and clearly passionate about dog training. They took the time to assess our dog’s behavior, personality, and specific needs, which allowed them to tailor the training program to suit her perfectly. The trainers used positive reinforcement methods, which kept our dog engaged and excited to learn.

What stood out most was the well-structured training sessions. Pawesome Academy offered a balanced approach that focused on building good habits while also addressing behavioral issues. The trainers were patient and consistent, and they made sure we were actively involved in the process by teaching us how to reinforce the lessons at home. It was great to see our dog improving in real-time and learning valuable commands that made her more manageable and well-behaved.
